When I decided to attend LSE Summer School, I wanted the full academic and social experience. Session 3, which takes place in August, was the perfect choice. I always knew I wanted to study abroad before graduating from university, and London and LSE Summer School were the perfect places to do this. From the city's unique atmosphere at the end of the summer to the connections I made and the experiences I lived, my time at LSE Summer School, specifically is Session 3, was unforgettable. I wanted to cover in my blog some of the reasons why you should consider attending Summer School in the later session, based on my experience!
The Height of Summer
London during Session 3 was the peak of British summer, with longer days and only the occasional rain shower, offering an exhilarating energy. Outdoor events, easily accessible public transportation, and sunlight made each day a new adventure. I visited iconic London sites like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and the Tower of London, and frequented street markets like Portobello Market and Columbia Road Flower Market, sampling foods, buying trinkets for family and friends, and finding flowers to brighten my accommodation. I even ventured to towns outside London, chasing the good weather from one place to another. There were endless opportunities at my fingertips.
An Academic Experience Unlike Any Other
The main draw of Session 3 for me was the offering of MG101: Marketing, a course required for my Bachelor’s degree back home. I knew that studying marketing at LSE would challenge me in the best ways possible through real-world case studies, research projects, and presentations. The combination of morning small-group seminars and afternoon lectures ensured that I not only received the material but also fully understood and applied it. LSE Summer School successfully condensed high-impact learning into three weeks, allowing for a deep focus on marketing and rapid skill development.
Friends Made Along the Way
A significant highlight of Session 3 was the opportunity to engage with and learn from my peers, who came from diverse backgrounds and experiences, but all shared an interest in marketing. A significant part of my learning came from hearing their perspectives and how their personal and professional experiences brought new insights into the marketing concepts we studied.
Beyond academics, the friendships I made during the programme were among the most valuable gifts of the summer. Whether exploring new restaurants, planning impromptu trips, or finding the best study spots, the connections I built at LSE will always be cherished and credited as a key reason for my wonderful experience.
Housing Needed? No Problem!
Session 3 aligned perfectly with my summer schedule, allowing me to fit the programme between my job back home and the start of my university semester. For students balancing multiple commitments, Session 3 can be ideal. Additionally, many LSE Summer School students finish their studies after Session 2, meaning accommodations options are more readily available and flexible. With just five months before the start of Session 3, I secured a place at LSE High Holborn, which was only a 10-minute walk away from campus and close to some great shops and restaurants.
So Many Things To Do
Session 3 is the perfect time to explore and try new things, fully immersing yourself in the London lifestyle and culture. I frequented pubs after classes and tried a full English breakfast. As a music lover, I couldn’t miss FISHER performing at Gunnersbury Park. I even hiked the Seven Sisters Cliffs because all the walking around the city wasn’t quite enough exercise. Of course, as a Formula One fan, I had to drive the racing simulators at the F1 Arcade.
You could spend the entire three weeks in London and never visit the same place twice, but if one were to need a change of scenery, it was easy to take a breather and spend the weekend elsewhere. Through the Summer School, I visited Windsor with classmates, taking a peek inside Windsor Castle. I also explored other towns in England, like Canterbury, Bath, and Brighton, having afternoon tea, seeing the Roman Baths, and walking on pebbled beaches. With so many choices, time was my only hindrance.
So, Why LSE Summer School Session Three?
If you want to diversify your educational experience or expand your horizons in a new environment, LSE Summer School Session 3 offers the perfect balance of academic excellence, cultural exploration, and practical advantages. The late summer timing allows for greater flexibility, better accommodation availability, and an incredible atmosphere in London as the summer comes to an end.
Attending LSE Summer School was one of the best decisions I made. If you are searching for an unforgettable experience that helps you grow across all dimensions in one of the world’s most exciting cities, then Session 3 of LSE Summer School is the perfect place for you.
