1. It’s easy to get to LSE's campus
All LSE halls of residence have one thing in common - they're perfectly located for you to get to class. All our accommodation options are located in central London, a short walk or bus ride from the LSE campus. By walking, public transport, or by bike (London has a public bike-sharing scheme), no hall is more than 25 minutes away from campus.
2. London's top sights are on your doorstep
The other perk of living in LSE halls is that you’re near London's museums, restaurants and tourist attractions. So you can spend more time exploring and less time travelling. And if you want to get off the beaten track, London's frequent and reliable public transport system will easily connect you to other London boroughs. For example:
- Carr-Saunders Hall is a short walk from the British Museum and Regent's Park, two of London’s most iconic spots.
- Bankside House and Sidney Webb House are ideally positioned to get to the Tate Modern gallery - home to a vast array of international modern art - as well as foodie heaven Borough Market. London's world-famous nightlife including venues Ministry of Sound and Corsica Studios are also nearby.
I'm happy to have stayed in Sidney Webb House - it only took 25 minutes to get to campus, and there was an abundance of shopping and food options nearby. I met lots of Summer School students here, and we enjoyed chilling in the common areas of the accommodation.
3. Everything you need is included in the cost
Bed linen and towels are provided and all rooms have Wi-Fi. You'll have use of shared kitchens, and a cooked breakfast is included – served in the residence or in the campus restaurant.
- Communal TV and computer facilities are standard. Some communal areas are equipped with pool tables and table football.
- Every site has a 24-hour staffed reception with overnight security, so you and your parents can have peace of mind that someone will be around to help if you need.
- If you’re using a wheelchair to get around, accessible accommodation is available in High Holborn.
4. Rooms are competitively priced
Each of our halls is priced at a different point, with a range of room options to suit different needs and budgets.
The length of your accommodation contract is tailored exactly to the length of the Summer School programme(s), so you only pay for what you need. You will struggle to match LSE accommodation rates in the short-let private market.
You won’t have to worry about any surprise fees or charges either, as all bills are included in your rent. You can even buddy up with a friend and reduce the cost of your stay by sharing a room.
5. You'll connect with students from all over the globe
Staying with like-minded students who are also embarking on their Summer School journey gives you a strong community and base to come home to after class. You will be immersed in an inclusive university environment, with plenty of opportunities to form friendships with people from all corners of the globe.
It was so easy to make friends at High Holborn. Before I arrived, I only knew a few people, but immediately after the first week, I became incredibly close with my accommodation floormates. We cooked meals together in the kitchens, walked to class together and we still talk today even though we all go to different universities in different parts of the world.
So, if you want to live in some of the best places in London, close to campus, with all the facilities you need, and make friends while you do it, at a reasonable price - then LSE accommodation could well be your best option.
Remember to apply soon, as it is not unusual for halls to fill quickly.
