Katie is currently part of the LSE team working on the African Health Observatory - Platform on Health Systems and Policies (AHOP). Hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Africa (WHO AFRO), AHOP leverages existing national and regional collaborations to form a network of National Centres that currently include leading research institutions in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda and Senegal. AHOP draws on support from a technical consortium including the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, LSE and national, regional and global partners.

Katie has a multi-disciplinary background in public health and international development, with a regional focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Katie worked in infectious disease epidemiology at Imperial College, as well as the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), where her research focused primarily on community perceptions, acceptance and compliance of mass treatment interventions for malaria and neglected tropical diseases.

She has conducted a range of mixed methods research for clients in the humanitarian and development sectors working in thematic areas of health, education, refugees and forced displacement, and digital technologies. Prior to joining LSE, Katie was working in research consultancy with the Health Economics Group at Imperial College alongside co-founding and leading the research activities for a digital health start-up.
