Dr. Huixuan Gao is currently an LSE Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), specialising in Health Economics. She obtained her Master’s degree in Economics from the Scottish Graduate Programme in Economics (SGPE) at the University of Edinburgh and completed her PhD in Health Economics at the University of Aberdeen in July 2024. Her doctoral research focused on the economic valuation of unpaid care for the elderly, examining the value and cost of informal care in the context of an ageing population.
During her PhD, Dr. Gao served as a teaching assistant at the University of Aberdeen, where she taught intermediate microeconomics. She is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). Her research interests include both formal and informal care systems and related policy studies, with a strong focus on improving care systems through economic and policy analysis.
