On Thursday 22 February, we hosted the first LSE Summer School Class Teacher Awards. This special occasion was a celebration of the achievements of our 2023 seminar teachers.
Our top teachers were presented with prizes in recognition of their dedication to our students’ learning experience within their seminars. Seminars are smaller discussion based classes, in which students and teachers debate content from lectures and have the opportunity to delve more deeply into the course content.
Prizes were awarded based on student feedback, in which our class teachers were praised for their passion, innovative teaching and kindness. It was wonderful to take time to recognise these contributions and focus on LSE’s academic excellence.
"Imran made our class an unforgettable experience. His meticulous preparation ensured that every lesson was engaging and informative. He created a supportive environment where everyone felt valued by his kind nature. What truly set him apart was his ability to infuse fun into learning, making each session a joy."
Mattia Antonini, Summer School Student 2023
Held in the Shaw Library on LSE campus, our teachers were joined by Professor Peter Trubowitz, Academic Director of LSE Summer School, Professor Wim A Van der Stede, Academic Director of Extended Education, and Professor Emma McCoy, Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), and departmental staff.
Professor Peter Trubowitz took time to praise our award winners and all of Summer School’s class teachers.
"The class teachers add real value to the programme. I know this from my own personal experience teaching on Summer School, but it became even clearer to me while we were reviewing teaching performance across the Summer School earlier this year. The class teachers are the ones the students really get to know and are the ones who make the Summer School experience enriching and rewarding for them."
Professor Emma McCoy also gave a speech, celebrating all the achievements of our academics.
"The Summer School is incredible, and that’s because of the amazing courses and the amazing class teachers. Congratulations to the Summer School class teachers for the amazing job they do!"
LSE Summer School would not be what it is without the effort and enthusiasm of all our academic staff, especially the class teachers. We’re grateful to our 2023 students for their wonderful feedback, and can’t wait for our 2024 cohort to experience everything on offer this year!
