To celebrate the G20 summit arriving Rio de Janeiro, this special half-day event is designed for university students and recent graduates who are passionate about entrepreneurship, innovation, and social impact.

Hosted by LSE Generate, the award-winning start-up hub based at the UK’s #1 university - The London School of Economics and Political Science - this event will bring together aspiring entrepreneurs, industry experts, and thought leaders from diverse fields. In line with the G20 goal of "Building a Fair World and a Sustainable Planet", the event will explore the vital intersection of business and social responsibility, focusing on how innovation can drive meaningful change.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Hear from inspiring speakers, including many LSE alumni, who have successfully launched impactful ventures and made significant contributions to society.
  • Participate in interactive workshops to explore areas like social impact, utilising AI, and developing a personal brand.
  • Learn more about enhancing your career prospects through international education, including the chance to connect with experts from higher education institutions and scholarship organisations.
  • Network with fellow students, recent graduates, and established entrepreneurs.

Places at the Better World Summit are strictly limited and only available to university-level students and recent graduates. To request a ticket, please submit an application by clicking on "How can I attend?"

Photography and filming will be taking place at the event. The footage may be used in print and digital media, including but not limited to, websites, print publications, social media and marketing materials.

Agenda

A full event programme will be published closer to the time. The following is provided as an indicative schedule of what to expect:

  • 11.30am - Arrival and welcome coffee.
  • 12.00pm - Opening from LSE Generate.
  • 12.15pm - Keynote speech from the Founder of Dotz, Roberto Chade.
  • 12.30pm - Fireside chat and Q&A with keynote speaker.
  • 1.00pm - Lunch and networking. 
  • 2.30pm - Breakout session one. Choose to attend one session from “Social Innovation Design”, “Thought leadership roundtables” and “Progressing your career through postgraduate education
  • 3.30pm - Coffee break and networking.
  • 3.45pm - Breakout session two. Choose to attend one session from “Personal Branding workshop”, The power of Artificial Intelligence and no code platforms”, or “Taster session for LSE Summer School”.
  • 4.45pm - Closing remarks.
  • 5.00pm - End of event.

FAQs

Who can attend the LSE Generate: Better World Summit?

The Better World Summit is open to university-level students and recent graduates who are passionate about entrepreneurship, innovation, and social impact. There is no expectation that attendees will have any amount of professional experience or have studied subjects related to business, entrepreneurship, or the social sciences at university. If you are interested in thinking about your career, learning more about entrepreneurship, and are open to international education opportunities, then please do register for a place!

As places are strictly limited, attendance will be limited to confirmed ticket holders. To request one ticket, please complete the application form here.

If your ticket request is successful, you will receive a confirmation email containing a QR code which you will be required to present upon arrival to the event. 

I'm interested in studying at LSE. Is this event right for me?

Yes. The event will provide a great insight into what it is like to be an LSE student. Additionally, alongside the thematic discussions and workshops hosted by LSE Generate, the event will include opportunities to learn more about how to study at LSE and ask any questions you might have about making an application.

What language will the Summit be hosted in?

The summit will be hosted in a mixture of Portuguese and English. The language of each session will be clearly marked in the final event programme. While being able to speak English to at least intermediate level will significantly enhance your experience, this is not essential.

Can I bring guests?

No. Attendance is strictly limited to authorised ticket holders and guests will not be permitted entry.

How do I get to the event?

The Pestana Rio Atlântica is located on Av. Atlantica on the Copacabana beachfront. View on Google Maps here

The hotel is easily accessible by taxi or public transport. There are several bus stops, served by a number of lines, within walking distance of the hotel. The closest metro station is Cantagalo / Copacabana, which is within about fifteen minutes walking distance of the Pestana Rio Atlântica.

Please note that due to the declaration of the public holiday and the high volume of international visitors in the city, journey times may be considerably longer than normal. We recommend setting off early to avoid delaying your arrival.

Cancellation Policy

Please note that as a result of circumstances or events outside of our control (known as a Force Majeure event), which includes but is not limited to industrial action, official government advice, fire, flood or other environmental or physical damage to premises, we may need to cancel an event at short notice.

In the event of a cancellation, a change of venue or date, we will endeavour to notify attendees wherever possible through the contact details given at the time of booking. For the avoidance of doubt, the School will not be liable for any costs you may incur as a result of any cancellation, change of venue or date.
