Graduate entry requirements for applicants from France
Taught master's programmes
To be considered for admission to a taught master's programme (2:1, upper second class equivalent), for students who have studied at a French university, we normally require the licence or diplôme d'ingenieur obtained after three years of study with average grades, across all years studied in a French university, of 13.0/20.
For students who have studied at a Grande Ecole, for taught master's programmes, we normally require the diplôme d'ingenieur or the licence with minimum average grades of 13.0/20 or A. Students should have completed a minimum of three years at a Grande École. This can include the two year classes préparatoires period. If the last year has been studied abroad, that country's entry requirements should be met as well.
For students who achieved a licence after three years of classes préparatoires (CPGE) we require the majority of marks at Grade A or an overall 13.0/20.
We also accept the pre-Bologna maîtrise (last awarded in 2009) with a minimum overall mark of 13.0/20.
In addition, we accept the master 1 with a pass mark. This is equivalent to a UK postgraduate diploma.
To be considered for admission to a taught master's programme (first class equivalent), we require 15/20 from universities and 15/20 from a Grande École. We also accept the pre-Bologna Maîtrise with 15/20 and Master 1 with 13.0/20.
To be considered for admission to a law taught master's programme, we would normally require: from a public university and from the École Normale Superieure de Cachan: a Maîtrise (Master 1) in Law with an average of 13/20. We expect candidates to have an average of 13.5/20 in the preceding years. Sciences Po and other Instituts d’Études Politiques: Master 2 in Law with an average of at least 13/20 (and mention assez bien) and we expect an average of 13/20 in the preceding years.
Research programmes
