Max completed his PhD in January 2013. His thesis was entitled "Public Communication as Ideal and Practice: Definitions of the common good in Persian-language transnational newswork” and was supervised by Professor Robin Mansell, Dr Bart Cammaerts and Dr Myria Georgiou.
In the broadest sense his research interests centre on the role of communication in democracy, collective decision-making, justice and social coordination.
