Congratulations to Ceylin Ertekin, PhD Candidate in Marketing, who has been announced as the 2025 winner of the Fox CARD-Ipsos Dissertation Proposal Award, for her dissertation The Digital Effect: The Cognitive and Behavioral Impact of Online Interactions on Consumer Decision Making.

The award, which is co-sponsored by the Fox School’s Department of Marketing Center for Applied Research in Decision Making (CARD) and Ipsos, sees PhD students from around the world submit interdisciplinary dissertation proposals.

Celyin said, “I am truly honoured to receive this dissertation award, which reinforces the importance of multi-methodological research and motivates me to continue exploring how rigorous scholarship can shape and enhance decision-making across various domains.

“I am especially grateful that this recognition comes from a committee composed of both academic and industry experts, underscoring the vital connection between research and real-world practice.”

Ceylin’s research examines the influence of online interactions on decision making, focusing on three key areas: the cognitive impact of social media-induced comparisons, the effect of branded content, and privacy-related decision-making. The research offers both theoretical and practical insights into how digital environments shape consumer behaviour in various contexts.

The winners of the award receive a prize of $2,500 and are invited to present their proposal at an appropriate forum.
