Alexia Honore supports the programme and grant management activities of two units, the African Health Observatory Platform on Health Systems and Policies (AHOP) and the Global Health Initiative (GHI). AHOP which is hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Africa (WHO AFRO), leverages existing national and regional collaborations to form a network of National Centres that currently include leading research institutions in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda and Senegal. AHOP draws on support from a technical consortium including the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, LSE and national, regional and global partners. GHI is a cross-departmental research platform set up to increase the coherence and visibility of Global Health research activity across the School, both internally and externally.
She works primarily with the AHOP team to oversee, track and drive AHOP workstreams and support the development, production and dissemination of platform outputs. She is in charge of reporting AHOP activities to our funder (BMGF) and oversees our subgrantees’ reports (National centres). She oversees the finance, reporting and communications functions of both AHOP and the GHI and drive the development of new research grant submissions.
Before joining the LSE, Alexia worked to facilitate collaboration between Academia and Industry around highly innovative projects seeking European funding to tackle key societal challenges. Prior to moving to London, Alexia did an internship at the Belgian Representation to the United Nations in New York where she was in charge of reporting on Security Council meetings and Political Affairs in the Middle East. She also worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for International Crisis and Conflicts at UCL (Universite Catholique de Louvain), in Belgium where she focussed on the foreign policy of great and middle powers (United States, Russia, Australia). Alexia’s interests are focused on geopolitics, international societal and humanitarian affairs.
