About me

After completing my Master’s in Modern History at Durham University in 2007, I relocated to Taiwan to experience life overseas, teach English and learn Mandarin. Since I returned to the UK in 2012, I have taught at the Universities of Bedfordshire and Northampton and focused my career on specialising in Business English and English for Academic Purposes (EAP). During this time, I have written and managed large pre-sessional courses, guest lectured at partner institutions in China and qualified as a CELTA Assistant Course Tutor.

I joined LSE in October 2019, and I am responsible for coordinating and teaching Academic Writing (LN991), Pronunciation and Voice (LN957) and Communication and Discourse (LN370). I am also an Academic Mentor for undergraduate students on the BSc. Language, Culture and Society and International Relations and Chinese programmes.

About the Language Centre

LSE is a centre for the study of the social sciences and this is reflected in its Language Centre.

Our courses focus on language and society, encouraging you to learn how to use language in the contexts you would like to live, study and work in. We teach people to speak languages, but also teach about language (socio-linguistics and intercultural communication) and offer a range of courses on literature and society.

We offer English for Academic Purposes programmes, BSc programmes a range of undergraduate degree courses that can be taken as part of a degree and a range of language options that can be taken outside of a degree programme. All programmes and courses relate language study and support to the fields of interest of social science students.
