maika

Maika Bilinski - MSc Gender, Peace and Security

Raised in Germany's queer centre, Cologne, in a Polish-German family, I completed my undergraduate degree in International Relations. Now pursuing the MSc in Gender, Peace and Security at LSE, I'm particularly interested in the gendered dimensions of peace and conflict, as well as (nuclear) disarmament, aspiring to work in disarmament research later on. Outside of my studies, I enjoy London's vibrant theatre, concerts and public talks, while also exploring more of the city with friends. You are most welcome to reach out to me regarding all things LSE and London. Looking forward to hearing from you!

You can reach out to Maika via email and LinkedIn.

linnae

Linnae Clement - MSc Gender, Development and Globalisation

Hello! My name is Linnae Clement, I’m from Ottawa, Canada where I completed my BA in International Development, minoring in Anthropology. Studying Gender at the LSE is an illuminating experience, allowing me to further interrogate the nexus of gender and global economic divergence grounded in multiscalar approaches concerned with individual lived realities. This combination of local and global analysis is key as I hope to pursue a career in the Canadian Foreign Service. I love the daily sense of adventure that comes with living in London and enjoy finding quiet spots for refuge along the way. Please feel free to reach out to me via email or LinkedIn!

You can rech out to Linnae via email or LinkedIn.

artemis

Artemis Giourou - MSc Gender (Rights and Human Rights)

I am Artemis and I come from Greece. I completed my BA of International Relations with Business Management at Queen Mary University of London. Whilst in my final year of my undergraduate studies, I realised that my academic interests lie within the field of gender studies. As someone who enjoys research, this field offers a unique opportunity to explore how gender intersects with social factors like race, class, and sexuality. With LSE being at the heart of central London, I get to enjoy the vibrant life that also allows me to connect with like-minded individuals.

You can reach out to Artemis via email.

frankie

Frankie Granger - MSc Gender

I’m from the UK, originally from the Lake District in the North of England, and later moved to Bristol to study English Literature. My key interests lie at the intersection of gender, human rights, refugee rights, and nationalism. Alongside my studies, I work for a charity that supports vulnerable and displaced people, many facing uncertain migration statuses. While my postgraduate plans are still taking shape, I plan to continue working on issues related to these areas. I love life in London—two years in, and I’m still discovering new neighbourhoods and new ways to enjoy the city. Whatever your interest, London always has something to offer - including plenty of amazing feminist events.

You can contact Frankie via email. Frankie studies at the department part-time, so if you have a question about part-time study, please reach out!

lucia

Lucía Santos-Peralta - MSc Gender (Rights and Human Rights)

I'm a Peruvian lawyer and researcher specialising in gender, indigenous peoples' rights, and access to justice. I hold a Law degree, an LLM in Human Rights and I’m now pursuing an MSc in Gender (Rights and Human Rights) at LSE. As an international student, I understand the challenges of relocating to London and navigating cultural and linguistic barriers, which has shaped my ability to connect with and support others. I can attest that London’s diversity has enriched my personal and professional growth. I particularly enjoy exploring its museums, historic landmarks, and vibrant arts scene.

vivian

Vivian Whalen - MSc Gender, Media and Culture

I'm from Fredericton, a small city on the East Coast of Canada. I previously studied professional communication with minors in politics and publics relations at Toronto Metropolitan University. After, I worked in government for almost two years. Gender Studies is applicable to all areas of life, particularly in government, where policy directly impacts women and can directly reinforce or subvert the patriarchy. I was drawn to LSE to learn about gender, and to London itself. London is exciting, there is a mix of green space and city, diverse welcoming people, and there is always something new to do and explore.

You can contact Vivian via email and LinkedIn.

louise

Louisa Zeisner - MSc Gender, Media and Culture

Hi everyone! I’m Louisa, 25 years old, from Germany. I graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies and completed internships in journalism before starting my MSc in Gender, Media and Culture. I chose this programme for its interdisciplinary nature, as I’m interested in how media representations of gender influence narratives and social attitudes - perspectives I hope to bring into a career in journalism. London has been a fantastic place to explore, with endless things to do! I enjoy walks in Regent’s Park, Reformer Pilates, and browsing charity shops.
