About me

Sophie Raehme (she/they)is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Gender Studies at the Central European University in Vienna and a visiting research student at the Department of Gender Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her PhD project focuses on examining and identifying different strategies used by state, non-state actors and victim/survivors in negotiating concepts of collective reparation for gendered, intersectional and relational harm of more-than-human victim-subjects in the Colombian urban territorial peace context. Sophie is theoretically grounded in critical theories of transitional justice and reparations and focuses on decolonial and queer studies of transitional justice, reparations, gender and human rights. Within her research praxis, she seeks to cultivate a space where lived experiences and situated knowledge can be articulated and amplified and worked with different victim/survivor groups in Medellín on participatory documentary projects between 2022 and 2024. As a researcher, musician and audiovisual artist, Sophie has been active in queer- & transfeminist communities and decolonial climate justice practice in Vienna, Frankfurt, Bogotá and Medellín.
