Curriculum overview
The hospitality and tourism CLCB uses China Ready as the main textbook and authentic materials carefully designed by our teachers for each student in the programme. This programme is ideal for students who have some foundation of Chinese learning, but open to all. The main learning contents include the following:
- Important cultural and social awareness factors for interacting with clients from China.
- Vocabulary
- Real-life scenarios
- Situational role playing and interactive listening
- Experiential exercises to encourage learning outside the classroom

1. Business Mandarin
From complete beginners to proficient speakers, our Business Mandarin is taught across 6 HSK levels. You will have a combination of in-person and online mobile learning methods to ensure you achieve the best learning outcomes.
2. HSK Mandarin Class
These 3 hours classes will focus on preparing students to prepare for HSK exam according to their HSK Level.
3. Intercultural communications
The intercultural communication element addresses core values of Chinese culture and its communication styles. Each session cover different topics related to Chinese Business Culture and it is divided in chapters so that you can join them at your own speed.
4. Business Masterclass
These sessions are recorded during live lectures hosted at LSE where we invite guest speakers at executive level to share their unique experiences and advice on doing business in China successfully.
5. China study trip (optional)
The 2-week study trip to China is an optional element. The trip entails a series of intensive Chinese language classes and cultural workshops. There are also organised weekend field trips, business talks, site visits and networking events with Chinese counterparts. We apply for scholarship funding on behalf of each CLCB student for this trip, which is subject to approval. If the application is successful, your tuition fees for the study trip are covered. Flight tickets, VISA and accommodation are not covered. CLCB online returning students are entitled to one study trip every 2 consecutive intakes.
6. Personalised class
All CLCB students are entitle to weekly personalised classes. These are 30 minutes 1-2-1 slots with CIBL teachers designed to focus on your language learning.
