About me

I joined the Mathematics Department at LSE as an assistant professor (education) in September 2024.

I obtained my PhD degree in Mathematics at the University of Sheffield, under the supervision of Dr Paul Mitchener; the title of my dissertation was "Topological C*-Categories", and was in the field of non-commutative geometry. Following that I joined Sheffield Hallam University as a lecturer, progressing first to senior lecturer and course lead for the BSc Mathematics programme, and then to principal lecturer and subject group lead for the Physical, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences group.

My research expertise and interests fall across two areas: The first is in the application of topology/geometry (especially non-commutative) and category theory to the modelling of complex systems, surface science and combinatorial games. The second is in the pedagogical use of recreational mathematics in higher education.
