Hellenic Observatory Research Calls Programme

In 2018 the Hellenic Observatory launched an exciting research initiative with a fresh programme of research calls on Greece.

The Hellenic Observatory Research Calls Programme on Greece was established in 2018 with generous donations from the A.C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation (ACLCF) and Dr. Vassili G. Apostolopoulos. The Programme’s objective is to advance the study of contemporary Greece in the field of the social sciences, to foster international research partnerships, and to develop research with direct policy relevance.

Through its annual calls, the Research Calls Programme on Greece has supported numerous research projects addressing significant questions in Greece’s economy, politics and  society. The selection process and publication of the findings take place through a comprehensive peer-review process conducted by the academic staff of the Hellenic Observatory and the dedicated Research Advisory Group. The projects funded to date, have led to numerous dissemination activities and publications in international academic journals. Their findings have also been translated into policy recommendations through the programme’s Policy Briefs, reaching policy audiences both within and outside Greece.

Through six years of funding successful projects, the Programme has established itself as a key platform for promoting innovative research on topical societal and economic issues, while fostering knowledge exchange between academic communities in the UK and Greece.
