Henrike Legner is a German soprano based in Munich, where she studies in the vocal class of KS Prof. Christiane Iven at the University of Music and Performing Arts and previously at the Theaterakademie August Everding.
Henrike completed the first three years of her bachelor's degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, where she won the Collingwood Finalist Prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Society Bursary for young singers in 2016. After an Erasmus exchange, she remained in Padua, Italy, and graduated with distinction from the Conservatorio di Musica Cesare Pollini in 2019. Since 2021, Henrike has participated in several productions at the Theaterakademie, including Handel's “Ariodante” (Ginevra), Iris ter Shiphorst's “Die Gänsemagd” (Die Kammerjungfrau), and Cavalli's “Il Giasone” (Sole and Alinde). In March 2023, she performed the role of Nerea in Wolfgang-Andreas Schultz's “Achill unter den Mädchen” with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester at the Prinzregententheater.
James Cheung has established himself as a much sought after song pianist and chamber musician appearing internationally with leading singers and instrumentalists. He has performed in recital with renowned singers such as Christian Gerhaher, Ian Bostridge, Gerald Finley, Joan Rogers, Elizabeth Watts, Elliot Madore, Marcus Farnsworth, Ruby Hughes, Sibylla Rubens, Martin Mitterrutzner, Wiebke Lehmkuhl and Benjamin Appl at venues, including the Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Düsseldorf Tonhalle, Camerata Musica Cambridge, Oxford Lieder Festival, The Banff Centre, St John’s Smith Square, the Royal Opera House, live broadcasts on BBC television and radio and festivals including Southwell, Aldeburgh and Aix en Provence and many more.
