When did 'good enough' become the same as 'perfect'? Why does society increasingly promote ideals that are completely unrealistic? And what does it mean for all of us that perfectionism is on the rise?

From the personal to the impact on the economy and grounded in over a decade of research this event will consider how our quest for perfection impacts our health and mental well-being.

Meet our speakers and chair

Tom Curran is Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science at LSE. He is a British Psychological Society chartered social psychologist. His primary area of expertise is the personality characteristic of perfectionism, how it develops, and how it impacts on mental health. 

Natasha Devon (@_NatashaDevon) is a writer, activist and broadcaster at LBC. She tours schools, universities and events throughout the world, delivering talks as well as conducting research on mental health, body image, gender and equality. She campaigns both on and offline to make the world a fairer place. Natasha is founder of the Mental Health Media Charter, which scrutinises the way the media report on mental health. She works with a number of charities, is a Patron for No Panic, as well as an Ambassador for Glitch and the Reading Agency.

Sandra Jovchelovitch is Professor of Social Psychology in the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science at LSE.
