Faculty Affiliate Scheme

The DSI Faculty Affiliate scheme is open to all members of LSE staff whose research and interests align with the mission of the Data Science Institute.

Affiliate Benefits

Community: Faculty Affiliates make up the core of the DSI research community. The DSI provides Affiliates with opportunities to meet other researchers from across LSE; to network, communicate and engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary research that enhances discovery and innovation within the field of data science and AI as applied to social science questions.

Agenda setting: Affiliates play a key role in supporting the development of the DSI agenda and defining our research priorities. They are invited to actively participate in our events and collaborations. 

Funding Support: Affiliates have access to funding support from our Business Development Manager and join the DSI Affiliates Teams channel on which opportunities are announced.

Communications: DSI will share Affiliate research and activities through our newsletters and social media channels as well as on the DSI website.

Events: Affiliates are invited to propose events to be included in our annual programme of public, research and student events.Events could showcase their own work or highlight the work of others in the field. 

Co-working space and hosting: Affiliates can book DSI meeting rooms and hot-desk space for their own use. They can also apply to have their research students located at the DSI with desk space and access to meeting rooms. We can also discuss hosting visiting collaborators. 

Research support: DSI can provide advice about cloud computing options and provide some access to resources for testing purposes.

DSI Benefits   

Participation: Affiliates are invited to attend research seminars, public events and other DSI events and receptions and can reserve seats at all events. They are also asked to play an active part in the development of our events programme.

Promotion: Affiliates are encouraged to promote the work and activities of the DSI both across LSE and externally. This includes mentioning their DSI affiliation in biogs and on social media profiles (if applicable).

Updates: Affiliates will be asked to contribute details of their activities related to data science and AI for inclusion in the DSI Annual Report.

How to apply

To join the DSI as an Affiliate, please complete the form available on our website. Applications are on a rolling basis so there are no deadlines, but submissions will be reviewed approximately six times a year.
