Advancing Women, Peace and Security in Afghanistan

Hosted by the Centre for Women, Peace and Security

LSE Lecture Theatre, Centre Building, LSE

Join the LSE Centre for Women, Peace and Security, Women for Peace and Participation (WPP), International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN), and Women In International Security (WIIS) as we look ahead to the critical measures needed to support women leaders in peacebuilding and decision-making processes in Afghanistan in 2025.

At this important event we will hear from Quhramaana Kakar – Founding director of WPP, peacebuilder and mediator from Women for Peace and Participation (WPP) who recently launched the “Strategizing a Seat at the Table” initiative. This initiative provides a powerful tool to advance Afghan women’s leadership and secure their meaningful participation in shaping Afghanistan’s future through complementary strategic actions. Developed collaboratively by Afghan women leaders from diverse backgrounds at the landmark Grand Convenings in London in 2023 and 2024, and through online sessions, this strategy marks a vital step forward in the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.
