Founded in 1831, New York University is one of the largest and renowned private research universities in the United States.  As an exchange student at NYU you will be based in the heart of New York City and Washington DC. NYU is recognised globally for its excellent academic programs, diverse student body, and vibrant campus life.

Accomodation

NYU offers a variety of housing options for exchange students, including residence halls and off-campus apartments. On-campus housing is highly recommended as it provides a convenient and immersive student experience.

Residence Halls:

NYU New York campus has several residence halls located near the main campus in Manhattan. These halls offer different room types, including single, double, and suite-style rooms. Facilities typically include laundry rooms, study lounges, and common areas.

The residence hall makes up half of the NYU Washington, DC Global Academic Center - which is located at 1307 L St NW.  Each residential floor contains mostly 4-person, 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartments as well as a limited number of studio apartments and a student lounge.

Off-Campus Housing: For students who prefer living off-campus, NYU provides resources to help find apartments and roommates.

Living Costs

Living in New York City can be expensive, and it’s essential to budget accordingly.

Travel, Health Insurance, and Visas

Travel

GO LSE students attending NYU are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the university. Eligible students may explore grant options to help cover travel expenses through Student Finance in their respective regions.

Health Insurance

All international students are required to have basic and extended health insurance for the duration of their studies at NYU, as health care in America can cost thousands of dollars per day if you do not have valid health insurance.
