Eligibility

Applicants must be in their second year and must return to LSE after the year abroad to complete their degree. 

To be eligible for consideration, you must have an overall average of 60% or above from all of your first year courses. Applicants with individual module scores under 60% will be considered, as long as the overall average grade is 60% or above. 

As part of your application, you must provide your marks from your first year modules at LSE and the name and contact details of one academic referee. Your referee can be any academic member of staff from your department at LSE.

Language of Instruction: English

Available Courses: Wide range across faculties; course information is available on the NUS course listing.

Academic Calendar: Semester 1: August–December; Semester 2: January–May.

Course Workload & Credit System: Standard full-time workload is 18-20 credits per semester.

Grading System: Grades range from A+ to F, with a C as the minimum passing grade.

Student services and support

Orientation & Induction: Comprehensive orientation for new exchange students, including a buddy programme, you will be paired with an NUS buddy, and have your questions about NUS and Singapore answered.

Accommodation

Accommodation placement is not guaranteed given the limited supply of accommodation at NUS. The acceptance email/letter from the Office of University Registrar will include instructions on how and when to apply for accommodation along with the updated instructions and deadlines.

Financial information

Mandatory Fees: Registration and administrative fees apply.

Cost of Living: Estimated on-campus living is SGD $1,150 - $2,050 per month, depending on lifestyle. 

 

Health & Safety

Health Insurance Requirements: Students are required to have health insurance; exchange students can participate in the NUS Student Health Insurance scheme.

 

Student life

NUS Global Student Ambassadors (GSAs) plan social activities which provide opportunities for inbound exchange students and NUS students to mingle, all while helping inbound exchange students settle in to life in NUS and Singapore. 

 

Visa and immigration

Visa Requirements: Students must apply for a Student’s Pass before arriving in Singapore.
