Bocconi University

Students at institutions with which LSE has a reciprocal exchange agreement join the School through the Global Opportunities (GO) LSE programme. GO LSE offers successful applicants from Bocconi the opportunity to spend either the full academic year or the Autumn Term at the School as fully-integrated undergraduate students.

Academic entry requirements:

GO LSE students are expected to have completed two years of university level study by the time they join the School. Students from Italy must have achieved cumulative grades of 27 out of 30 at the point of application to the GO LSE programme.

Application process:

The GO LSE team will send Bocconi a link to the online application in January 2025. Nominated students should submit their completed applications as soon as possible, and no later than 30 April 2025. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

After a student has applied to the GO LSE programme, the GO LSE team will communicate with them directly; but will also copy all correspondence to their named advisor. Nominated students should not consider themselves accepted on the GO LSE programme until an official offer has been issued, in writing, by the School.

Required documents:

  • In addition to the completed online application, LSE requires:An official transcript(s) in English (or official transcript(s) and certified English translation(s))
  • A statement of academic purpose
  • Proof of English language qualification

Housing:

Bocconi students studying at LSE for a single term are not eligible for LSE accommodation. Information and resources to help students find private housing can be found here.

Courses and assessment:

GO LSE students from Bocconi select four half-unit undergraduate courses from a prescribed list that will be provided by the GO LSE team in the summer prior to enrolment. Detailed course guides can be found in the School’s Calendar. GO LSE students should read the information for ‘General Course’ students. Bocconi students should note that some courses require students to return in early January to sit the exam. These will be highlighted in the list provided by the GO LSE team.

All GO LSE students receive a transcript providing both an exam grade and a class grade for each course they have taken. Final transcripts are only issued at the end of the academic year.

Orientation and Welcome:

Mandatory orientation and ‘Welcome’ activities take place the week before teaching begins. These include an introduction from the Dean of the General Course and Global Mobility, a Study Abroad Boat Party, departmental meetings and initial tutorial appointments. Full pre and post-arrival details will be provided in the GO LSE Offer Pack.

Immigration:

Students spending a single term (less than six months) in the UK can enter the country as a visitor. However, students who are a national of a country on the visa national list will need to apply for immigration permission (a visa) before travelling to the UK. The GO LSE team is not permitted to offer visa advice but the School’s Student Advice and Engagement Team (SAET) provide detailed guidance on their webpages. If you have any questions regarding immigration to the UK please contact SAET by completing their online enquiry form. Bocconi students who enter on the visitor visa will not be allowed to work or intern in the UK.

Healthcare:

Most EEA citizens who are in the UK on a temporary basis can use an EHIC card (obtained in their home country before travel to the UK) to access NHS health care whilst in the UK. For more information please see the guidance for EU and EEA Nationals. It is a requirement that EEA students have Comprehensive Sickness Insurance. Further information can be found on the UKCISA web pages. Note that students may need to pay for dental and optical treatment as well as prescribed medicines.
