Women & Leadership in Global Business

LSE Executive Education Custom Programmes recently ran a five day Women & Leadership in Global Business programme in collaboration with the Kuwait Institute for Banking Studies. The programme took place in Kuwait City from 8-12 September 2019 and was attended by 23 female participants.

The fundamental theme and aim of this female-only programme was empowering women to achieve their full leadership potential. Led by senior faculty from the LSE department of Management, the programme provided a cutting-edge introduction to value based leadership and management, as well as the latest trends in behavioural management and strategic decision-making. Participants gained crucial insights into key issues of corporate governance from a female leader perspective, in addition to an immersive understanding of how organisational culture affects female executives.

By the end of the week, participants emerged from the programme with actionable insights and new frameworks, learning different leadership styles, strategies and tools that form a next-generation leadership toolkit to help achieve their leadership potential. The programme also served as a valuable platform for networking, inspiring discussions among the participants and with experts involved about the challenges and opportunities for women working in business and finance in the Arab world.

Christian Thiel, Senior Client Relations Manager at LSE Executive Education Custom Programmes said ‘After having met numerous inspirational women making their mark in governments, companies and start-ups during my work across the GCC over the last four years, it was a great pleasure to conduct the Women & Leadership in Global Business Programme.

Thank you to His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Y. Al-Hashel, the Central Bank of Kuwait, and the Kuwait Institute for Banking Studies for the excellent collaboration and for institutionalising a forum for debate and discussion on such an important topic. It was a humbling experience to work with the next generation of female leaders in Kuwait and beyond.’
