Introduction
This opportunity gives research students from other academic institutions the chance to study in the Department of Management at LSE for up to one academic session (three terms/one academic year). It’s a great way to gain experience in a contrasting academic and cultural environment.

Please note: before applying, all visiting research students must have the support of a faculty member within the department.

As a visiting research student, you can start your studies in the Autumn, Winter, or Spring Terms. At the end of your visit, you’ll need to produce a report for our PhD committee.

Your application
Overview
You can apply to the VRS programme once you have a supervisor to support your application and the Department of Management PhD committee have agreed to accept your application.
To apply as a visiting research student, you apply in the same way as for our research programmes, with the same entry criteria. However applicants to our visiting research programme don't need to submit GRE or GMAT scores.

- MPhil/ PhD Management (Information Systems and Innovation)
- MRes/ PhD Economics and Management
- MRes/ PhD Management (Employment Relations and Human Resources)
- MRes/ PhD Management (Marketing)
- MRes/ PhD Management (Organisational Behaviour)
Please note: applications should be submitted at least three months prior to the starting term date. Students can start in Autumn Term, Winter Term and Spring Term. View term dates
We carefully consider each application on an individual basis, taking into account all the information presented on your application form. The application process is similar to that of our research degrees.

As part of your application, you'll need to provide the following supporting documents:
- academic achievement (including existing and pending qualifications)
- statement of academic purpose
- references
- CV
- outline research proposal or plan of work you'll undertake as a visiting student
- sample of written work.

You may need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency. Students must meet the English proficiency for research programmes – MPhil/PhD programmes. See our English language requirements.
Applications are managed by the School’s Graduate Admissions Office.
Competition for places at LSE is strong. So, even if you meet the minimum entry requirements, this does not guarantee you an offer of a place.
However, please don’t feel deterred from applying – we want to hear from all suitably qualified students. Think carefully about how you can put together the strongest possible application to help you stand out from other students.
