About me

Research Topic: 

Accountability (via results-based governance systems) in Public Service, and its impact on inequalities in Health and Education Outcomes.  

Diwakar was born and raised in the state of Bihar, India. Prior to starting his doctoral research at LSE, he worked with the Development Economics Research Team at the World Bank in Washington DC. At the World Bank, his research focused on improving learning outcomes for children in Sub-Saharan Africa, reducing maternal mortality in Central Asia and increasing food security in South-East Asia. Previously, he has worked as a commercial lawyer (private equity) and has served the courts in Bihar as a legal aid advocate.

At LSE, Diwakar is an Analysing and Challenging Inequalities scholar at the International Inequalities Institute. For the academic year 2022-23, Diwakar will also work as the graduate teaching assistant for Social Security Policies course.

Diwakar holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the National Law School of India University, as well as a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Oxford and a Master’s in International Education Policy from Harvard University.
