Simon has nearly 20 years experience of applied academic research and teaching in UK and comparative public policy and public management. He is also an associate in the LSE Public Policy Group, a think-tank based in the Department of Government, LSE.
His current research is looking at how large public sector systems in the UK cope with long-term capacity stress, covering prisons, emergency health services, immigration and asylum, defence capability, and welfare administration. Recently, he published a book on UK prison system, and co-authored one on impact of social science research (see below for further details).
