Sachin Pilot is an Indian politician. At 26 years of age, he was the youngest Member of Parliament when he won his first election in 2004 from the Dausa parliamentary constituency (Rajasthan). He went on to get re- elected in 2009 from Ajmer parliamentary constituency (Rajasthan) and became a Central Minister in the Government of India handling portfolios such as - Telecommunications, Information and Technology, and Corporate Affairs. As the Corporate Affair Minister, Mr Pilot was instrumental in the passing of the Companies Act, 2013 which was the most comprehensive revision of India's corporate laws since the now-repealed Companies Act, 1956. The 2013 Act introduced the mandatory Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contribution for companies which is now estimated to add upwards of 250 billion rupees (~3 billion USD) towards societal development annually. He also revolutionized the Indian Postal Service by introducing digital systems and laying the framework for financial inclusion by expanding financial services through the postal network. During his tenure, he led the initiative to ensure access to broadband internet services in nearly 200,000 village headquarters across India.
During his decade long experience as a parliamentarian (2004-2014), he served as a Member of the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Consultative Committee in the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Budget Estimates Committee. In 2014, he was appointed the President of the Congress Party in Rajasthan and has been the longest serving party president in the state (2014-2020). After the 2018 Assembly Elections, he became the Deputy Chief Minister of the Government of Rajasthan. As the Deputy Chief Minister, he was handling portfolios such as the Public Works Department (responsible for development of public infrastructure across the state), Science and Technology, Department of Statistics, and the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department (which oversees development works in rural Rajasthan). He also served on the Ethics Committee and the Rules and Sub-Rules Committee of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
He is currently in his second consecutive term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly representing the Tonk assembly constituency (since 2018). At the organizational level, he is currently the National General Secretary of the Congress party.
Social Impact & Leadership
Mr. Pilot also has the distinction of being the first Minister of the Government of India to have been commissioned as a regular officer in the Territorial Army in 2012 and is serving as a Captain in the 124 Sikh Battalion (TA). In terms of social impact, Mr. Pilot was a part of the Citizens' Alliance against Malnutrition which was a streamlined effort by young parliamentarians to raise awareness and address malnutrition among Indian children. In 2008, he was also recognised as a "Young Global Leader" by the World Economic Forum.

Mr. Pilot holds a B.A. from the St. Stephens College, University of Delhi, India and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, USA. Prior to entering politics, his professional career included working with the Delhi Bureau of the BBC, the American automotive corporation General Motors, and as a consultant with A. T. Kearney.
