Dr. Zhamilya Mukasheva is an LSE Fellow at the School of Public Policy. She holds a PhD in Politics from the Department of Politics and International Relations, Royal Holloway, University of London.
Her research focuses on the politics of higher education, as well as the role public policies play in shaping public opinions. Her thesis, “The Politics of Cost-Sharing in Higher Education in OECD Countries,” examines performance voting and ideology of parties in power to explain the variation in adoption of tuition fees and financial assistance policies in higher education in OECD countries. In her ongoing work, she studies factors affecting stability and transformation of public policies.
At LSE, she teaches on 'Public Policy Applications' course and supports the delivery of MPP public policy applied projects. Before joining LSE, she taught at Royal Holloway and University College London.
