GPPN Conference 2025

Congratulations to all our students who represented the LSE School of Public Policy (SPP) at the annual Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) conference, which this year was hosted by Columbia SIPA in New York City.

It was an honour to represent LSE at the GPPN and the experience has been truly invaluable. My teammate and I presented a policy proposal to reduce gender-based violence to a jury of deans and professors from the world’s leading public policy schools. We also heard inspiring proposals from policymakers across the world, forging new connections and sharing experiences throughout the conference.

Our SPP students were able to take advantage of being a part of the prestigious GPPN network of eight of the top global policy schools, to connect and network with over 100 participants from around the globe and discuss this year’s conference theme ‘policies and innovations that foster sustainable development'

We were pleased to be represented by four student teams from across our MPA, MPP, and MPA in Data Science for Public Policy programmes, who took part in the annual conference competition to develop and present a project to address an important policy challenge. In preparation for the conference, they were tasked with first identifying a pressing policy issue and then working together to analyse and select potential solutions which they could present to an expert panel.

Our four SPP teams pursued projects which addressed a range of global policy issues, including early warning fire response systems in the Peruvian Amazon, shifts to 'green' steel in India, impacts on Bangladesh's Buriganga River, and battling gender-based violence in Haiti.

We were also delighted to reconnect with our MPA/MGA Double Degree students representing University of Toronto (Munk School), where they are currently studying their second year of their programme (pictured below).

We look forward to further collaborations and connections with our GPPN colleagues and to inviting future students to take part in the annual conference.
