Tim Leunig, a leading scholar and former economic advisor to two UK Chancellors of the Exchequer, has been appointed as Visiting Professor in Practice.
The LSE School of Public Policy (SPP) is delighted to welcome Tim Leunig as Visiting Professor in Practice.
An economist by training, Professor Leunig received his PhD from Oxford University in 1996. He was a member of the LSE Economic History Department 1998-2023, both as tenured faculty and as a senior visiting fellow and has held visiting positions in the US and Europe.
He has spent the last decade undertaking senior roles in the UK Civil Service, including Economic Adviser to the two Chancellors (Sajid, Sunak), Chief Analyst and Chief Scientific Advisor at the Department for Education, as well as Senior Policy Adviser to 8 other Cabinet Ministers across 4 departments.
He is Director, Public First Consulting, Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Government, a Governor of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, the Royal Historical Society and the Royal Society of Arts as well as being an Associate Member of Nuffield College, Oxford.
