Pre-requisites
For students who are interested in learning more about academic writing to assist with exam style essays.
Course content
The course aims to develop the ability to write exam style essays more effectively. By the end of the course, students will: (a) be familiar with the conventions of academic writing (b) have improved the accuracy, clarity and coherence of their written English c) have become more familiar with the structure of arguments in the social sciences and have practised clear organisation of texts and appropriate paragraphing; (d) have extended their range of lexical and grammatical expression and (e) be able to evaluate their own writing.
