Availability
This course is available on the BSc in Management, International Exchange (1 Term) and International Exchange (Full Year). This course is available as an outside option to students on other programmes where regulations permit and to General Course students.
This course cannot be taken with MG303 International Business Strategy and Emerging Markets.
This course has a limited number of places (it is capped). Students who have this course as a compulsory course are guaranteed a place. Places for all other students are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Course content
The course aims to apply social science theory to the analysis of the conduct and management of transnational activities; to critically appraise concepts such as globalisation, regionalisation, national competitiveness, transnationality of firms, etc. in the context of international management structures and processes; to delineate the international political, economic, social and legal structures and environments within which the activity of management takes place. The topics to be covered will include: the nature of the contemporary global political economy; the globalisation of business, finance and trade in goods and services; Global competition; the transnational corporation in the global economy; the tension between globalisation and regionalisation; the international trading order; the international monetary regime; the impact of culture on global business; the changing position of the state in the global economy; the new diplomacy of states and firms.
Teaching
Teaching hours in the AT will be commensurate with a usual half unit undergraduate course.
This course includes a reading week in Week 6 of Autumn Term, in line with departmental policy.
Formative coursework
Students are expected to produce one piece of written work and do the weekly class exercises.
