This course is compulsory on the BSc in Management. This course is available on the BSc in Accounting and Finance, International Exchange (1 Term) and International Exchange (Full Year). This course is available as an outside option to students on other programmes where regulations permit and to General Course students.

 This course is not capped, any student that requests a place will be given one.

This course introduces students to social science theories, research and application related to understanding human behaviour in the workplace. That is, this course is about the people side of business and management. Each week focuses on a different topic investigating individual, group, and organisational issues.

Organisational behaviour topics include: personality and performance, managerial decision-making, motivating others, fairness in organisations, and the multicultural workplace.

Leadership topics include: power and influence, the adaptive leader, leadership development, and team leadership.

Teaching hours in the LT will be commensurate with a usual half unit undergraduate course but note that teaching may take a different format and/or structure in 2021/22.

Students on this course will have a reading week in Week 6, in line with departmental policy.

Students will work in groups to answer an essay question through an in-class presentation and will receive structured feedback based on the criteria for marking essays (e.g. structure, evidence). Students will also be offered an essay writing workshop specific to this course.

Essay (30%, 1500 words) and class participation (10%) in the LT.
Take-home assessment (60%) in the ST.

The take home assessment will be a 2000 word essay which students will have one week to complete. Class participation will be based on oral representations of weekly reading summaries.
