Course critical to assessment: Students must obtain a mark of at least 65 in the dissertation in order to be awarded an overall Distinction. For students entering in or after 2017/18: Except for MSc Population and Development: students must pass the DV459 (formerly SA499) dissertation in order to be awarded the degree but are not required to achieve a mark of at least 65 in the dissertation to be awarded an overall Distinction. |

Distinction/Merit borderline (scheme paragraph 3.3.2): Classification for students with mark profiles falling into this range will always be determined to the advantage of the student. |
