This course is compulsory on the MPhil/ PhD in Law. This course is available on the MPhil/PhD in Law (Socio-Legal Theory). This course is not available as an outside option.

This course aims to equip students with the skills required to undertake advanced legal research. The focus in the MT is on methodological and theoretical issues arising in legal scholarship. The focus in the LT is on the various stages of the PhD process, and on preparation for professional life in academic law beyond the PhD. In the ST an Upgrade Conference is held at which first year research students present their work-in-progress.

20 hours of seminars in the MT. 20 hours of seminars in the LT. 2 hours of seminars in the ST.

There will be a Reading Week in week 6 of MT.

There are no examination arrangements. However, attendance in the MT is compulsory for first year research students, and research students in other years are encouraged to attend.
