Availability
This course is compulsory on the BSc in Economic History, BSc in Economic History with Economics and BSc in Economics and Economic History. This course is available on the BSc in Economics with Economic History. This course is not available as an outside option nor to General Course students.
Course content
The subject of the dissertation should relate broadly to one of the economic history courses that have been chosen. The compulsory seminars cover the formulation of the thesis question; primary and secondary sources; analysis of evidence; and structuring and writing up the thesis.
There will be no seminars in Week 6 of MT and LT, due to Reading Week.
Assessment
Dissertation (100%, 10000 words) in the LT.
The dissertation must not exceed 10,000 words in length. After being marked, the dissertation will not be returned to the candidate. The title of the dissertation should be approved by the candidate's supervisor and a title form signed by the supervisor must be submitted to the course organiser before the end of the MT.
