Executive MSc Political Economy of Europe - Progression from Y1 to Y2 and Resit Rules

Students who attain at least a Pass grade in each of the first year courses will be eligible to proceed into the second year. |

Students who attain a Fail grade in a course of 0.5 unit value, but attain at least a Pass in the remaining 1.5 units will be eligible to proceed into the second year. Such students will be able to resit the failed course (only on one occasion) at the next available opportunity alongside their second year courses. |

Students who attain a Fail grade in courses to the value of 1.0 unit, but who attain at least a Pass in the remaining 1.0 unit will only be permitted to progress at the discretion of the Sub- Board of Examiners who will consider their overall performance and may recommend that the student cannot progress until they have successfully completed a resit in their failed course(s). Where a student is permitted to progress, they will be able to resit the failed course (only on one occasion) at the next available opportunity. |

Students who attain a Bad Fail grade in any course or who attain a Fail grade in courses to the value of 1.5 units will not be eligible to progress and will need to undertake resits at the next available opportunity. If, following the resits a student has failed to improve their grade, he/she may not be eligible to proceed into the second year, if he/she will no longer be able to successfully complete the programme according to the School's Scheme for the Award of a Taught Master's Degree (four units). |

The marks of any student who fails up to 1.0 units over the course of the programme will be subject to the penalty rules stipulated at paragraph 5.2 of the School's Scheme for the Award of a Taught Master's Degree (four units). |
