Availability
This course is compulsory on the BSc in Business Mathematics and Statistics. This course is available on the BSc in Statistics with Finance. This course is available as an outside option to students on other programmes where regulations permit and to General Course students.
For students who have studied mathematics and statistics to the level of MA107/ST107 Quantitative Methods or SA201 Research Methods for Social Policy. Not to be taken with ST203 Statistics for Management Sciences (full unit).
Course content
Sampling methods for social surveys. Survey design and estimation. Nonresponse and measurement error. Design of experiments and observational studies.
Teaching
20 hours of lectures, 9 hours of classes and 2 hours of workshops in the MT.
Formative coursework
Weekly exercises and group presentations.
