This course is available on the MSc in African Development, MSc in Development Management, MSc in Development Studies and MSc in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies. This course is not available as an outside option.

This course is only available to students taking DV410.1 and is therefore not available as an option. It builds on the weekly lectures/seminars given as a component of DV410.1.

The course will structured around large research topics associated with the work of the International Development department such as Complex Emergencies, Control of Tropical Diseases, Assessments of Global Poverty, Dilemmas in African Leadership, the Economic Growth of China, etc. A set of readings will be proposed for each topic, with an orientation towards the publications of International Development staff. Themes and questions will change over time as according to developments in the literature and specific interests of staff teaching the course.

Formative assessment will be a 3,000 word draft for discussion with the relevant member of staff.
