Availability
This course is compulsory on the BSc in Business Mathematics and Statistics. This course is available on the BSc in Management and BSc in Statistics with Finance. This course is available as an outside option to students on other programmes where regulations permit and to General Course students.
For students who have studied mathematics and statistics to the level of MA107/ST107 Quantitative Methods or SA201 Research Methods for Social Policy. Not to be taken with ST203 Statistics for Management Sciences (full unit).
Course content
Observational and experimental data. Data quality. Sampling from finite populations. Simple random sampling. Stratified random sampling. Cluster sampling. Survey design. Analysis of survey data.
Teaching
20 hours of lectures, 9 hours of classes and 2 hours of workshops in the MT.
Formative coursework
Weekly exercises and group presentations.

Assessment
Exam (80%, duration: 2 hours) in the main exam period.
Coursework (20%) in the MT.
