This course is available with permission as an outside option to students on other programmes where regulations permit.

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an analytical understanding of the relations that exist between Greece and the rest of the European Union, drawing on historical perspectives as well as on concepts from political science, international relations, and political economy. This year a particular focus will be the Greek debt crisis: its origins; the management of it, both domestically and in conjunction with the EU and the 'Trokia'; competing interpretations of its nature and implications; and, perspectives on Greece's 'reform capacity' and its ability to exit the crisis. These issues will be considered both conceptually and empirically, to highlight key themes.
