To be eligible to progress into the second year, students should attain at least a Pass grade in each of the first year courses GV4G8E, GV478E and EC455E. The Year 1 course GV4G9E will not count towards progression but the grade will count towards the final degree classification. If a single paper is failed, the student may proceed to the second year and resit the failed paper along with the second year papers. The Sub-Board of Examiners may, at its discretion, consider an application to progress to the second year of the degree from a student who has fallen marginally short of this requirement.
