Professor Tomila Lankina is Professor of International Relations in the Department of International Relations at LSE.
She is author of The Estate Origins of Democracy in Russia: from imperial bourgeoisie to post-communist middle class, Governing the Locals: local self-government and ethnic mobilisation in Russia, and Local Governance in Central and Eastern Europe, with Anneke Hudalia and Hellmut Wollman. Her current research focuses on comparative democracy and authoritarianism, mass protests and historical patterns of human capital and democratic reproduction in Russia and other states.
