LSE is pleased to announce that Professor Alex  Voorhoeve has been appointed as the next Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Faculty Development), effective from 1 September 2025.

Alex Voorhoeve is a leading thinker on egalitarian conceptions of justice and their implications for public policy, especially in health. While his focus is on political philosophy, Alex’s work is thoroughly interdisciplinary; he has co-authored papers and policy reports with colleagues in economics, health policy, law, political theory, psychological and behavioural science, and public policy, as well as with policymakers from around the globe.

Since joining LSE in 2004, Alex has served in a number of roles, including on the Academic Planning and Resources Committee, Council, and, most recently, as Head of the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method. Working with colleagues across the School, he developed three thriving interdisciplinary degrees: the BSc Politics and Philosophy; the MSc Philosophy and Public Policy; and the innovative, four-year BSc Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Alongside his work at LSE, Alex has held visiting positions at Erasmus University, Harvard, Princeton, and the U.S. National Institutes of Health, as well as advisory roles for the World Health Organization, the World Bank, and the Bank of England.

Congratulations to the appointment!
