Accelerator Impact Stream

100x Research Grants

Current Project:

'Coordinating philanthropic capital: exploring the strengths and weaknesses of a staged investment system for high-impact nonprofit organisations'

Dr Jonathan Roberts
Marshall Institute

100x emulates the successful business accelerator model from the private sector and aspires to show how impact-driven organisations can break the cycle of grant-seeking, through tangible results-driven models like government adoption, digitisation and open-source solutions.

Funding is available to conduct research aimed at deepening our understanding and enhancing the effectiveness of 100x Impact Accelerator or similar accelerators. The work of 100x raises a set of research questions about the process of scaling social change and social purpose organisations.

 Examples of topics include:

• The impact of 100x’s activities upon the social ventures within the programme.

• The contribution of 100x to the wider ecosystem of support and capacity-building for impact-first organisations.

• Differences and similarities between accelerating an organisation for social impact and accelerating it for profit.

• Modelling the trajectories to scale of different types of impact-first organisations.
