About me

Yao Ma is an MPhil/PhD Candidate of the Information Systems and Innovation Faculty Group in the Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Yao holds an MSc in Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation (MISDI) from LSE and a BSc in Information Resource Management from Sichuan University. Prior to joining LSE, Yao investigated the information behaviour of the elderly (2021 Best Paper Award in ICEB) and the embedded elderly care service model in China (undergraduate dissertation). He gained multidimensional research training through his academic experience at diverse institutions, such as the Chinese Academy of Science, Cambridge Centre for AI in Medicine, and Imperial College London.

At LSE, Yao served as the Editor-in-Chief of iSCHANNEL (the 18th edition), a student-led journal of the Department of Management. In his graduate dissertation, he researched the affordance actualization process of AI-powered chatbots for triage services in hospitals.

Yao is interested in the sociotechnical process of AI development and application in healthcare.
