Pauline Jerrentrup is a PhD candidate in the ERHR group at the Department of Management at the London School of Economics. Pauline’s research is motivated by the quest to find sustainable solutions to labour rights abuses in global supply chains. She focuses on enforceable union-brand agreements — innovative partnerships between local unions and international brands to improve labour conditions. Her fieldwork includes the Dindigul Agreement (incl. H&M, PVH & GAP and a local union in Tamil Nadu, India) and the Lesotho Agreement (incl. Kontoor Brands, Levi’s & Children’s Place and local unions and organisations in Lesotho), both targeting gender-based violence in garment factories. Pauline's PhD project aims to support different stakeholders in channelling their efforts to effectively tackle labour rights abuses at production sites.
Pauline conducted a visiting PhD Fellowship at ILR Cornell University in Autumn 2023. Alongside her PhD, Pauline works as a research consultant for international organisations and has worked as a graduate teaching assistant at the LSE.
Previously, she developed sustainability strategies as a business consultant for S&Z (Hamburg, Germany). She graduated as the top of her class from her MSc in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at LSE, holds a Master of Research from LSE, and a BA in International Business from Maastricht University. She has received several fully funded competitive scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies, including from the German Foundation of Business (SDW) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
