José Ignacio is pursuing an MRes/PhD in Economics and Management at LSE. He previously obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics (Honors) from the University of Costa Rica. He was a Pre-Doctoral Research Assistant at the LSE, working on topics related to Trade, FDI, Production Networks, and Labour. Prior to joining LSE, he worked as a Research Assistant at Sciences Po and the Central Bank of Costa Rica and consulted for the World Bank Development Research Group.
José Ignacio’s research interests include endogenous network formation models, in particular, those considering the mechanisms of customer acquisition, bilateral bargaining, relational contracts, and complementarities in supplier choices. Also, he’s interested in the role of distortions in these mechanisms, such as credit constraints and imperfect information, especially in developing countries. Additionally, he’s interested in the empirical analysis of production network reconfiguration after micro and macro shocks and firm growth.
