Congratulations to Caleb Phillips, PhD Candidate in Organisational Behaviour, who has been awarded the inaugural Cheistha Kochhar Master of Research Prize.

Caleb said of receiving the award, “I am deeply honoured to receive the award and to be recognised by the department I call home. I am incredibly grateful to be in a PhD programme where I feel endlessly supported and encouraged by the staff and my fellow students.

The annual award is dedicated to the memory of Cheistha Kochhar, a first year Master of Research (MRes)/ PhD student in Organisational Behaviour, who sadly passed away on 19 March 2024.

Reflecting on times he spent with Cheistha, Caleb said “We have seminars in the OB PhD programme where the first- and second-year students meet with faulty to review seminal articles. They’re quite intimidating and tough sessions!

“I remember going into each with Cheistha and relying on each other for support as we were grilled on theories, methods, analyses, and findings. Such an academic rite of passage really pulls you together and I’ll never forget the times we had together in those classes”.

The award was presented at the MRes Graduation, which took place in December 2024.  It is awarded to the student who achieves the highest aggregate mark on the MRes 5 unit taught Masters.
